It was a street just like any other old street
crumbling, skidded on and all worn out
something like this town we’re in
all the hustling about
you know it seems like
every man, woman and child alive
inside us all there’s a little bit of Bonnie and Clyde
Jekyll and Hyde

When the city is sleeping
and them stray cats lay dreaming
under stars, under cars
in a halo of moonlight
such a pale light
on the dark wet streets
the tripping chariot feet
and your reflection
in the chrome
all alone

All the hours have got up and gone
the tin bridge it creaks and it yawns
and the grey armour pigeon feathers fall
falling like days inside of days
into burnt paper night
it’s all water and ashes through
them sewer sidewalk grates
  And I can’t wait
no I can’t wait
I can’t wait
no I can’t wait

Till the winds wind up
to meet the sky
speaking dreams about
this space and time

Exhaust pipe dream
satellites and stars
is it all yours
or is it a dream?
